This is a one-on-one service provided for individuals who are wanting to explore their fears, emotions, or beliefs that are causing distress in their life or relationships.
In individual counseling the goals are to build trust and rapport, challenge thought patterns, explore new coping skills, and evaluate communication patterns so that the person can get needs met and have satisfying relationships at home, work, and socially. Individual counseling with kiddos is more challenging due to fear of punishment or judgment. The integration of play into those sessions often bridges a gap for the therapist so that communication flow can be achieved. The therapist will integrate common games to build skill development and rapport. ADULTS-CHILDREN-ADOLESCENTS

Trauma is defined as an exposure, either directly or indirectly, to a real or perceived life threat or fear-provoking event in a person’s childhood, recent past, or present that has produced an increased anxiety reaction.
This type of counseling often requires a minimal of individual therapy but often will include couples and family treatment. Family is encouraged to participate in sessions to help navigate various emotionally charged situations and to provide trauma informed environments. Therapists utilize Narrative Exposure Therapy to help client navigate and examine the trauma they have experienced. People who are not ready for this level of treatment exploration receive other forms of trauma informed counseling techniques. The main focus is to minimize continued traumatization.
